well, thats the nice thing about CryptoZoology, its not limited to "monsters" but also extinct animals showing up, natural or unnatural mutations or adaptations, simple animals where they should not be for one reason or another,,Alot of big finds lately, Like that Antelope in Vietnam that has gills on it's shout, the only known mammal with gills Kind of like that Chimp that they found in the 80s or whenever that walked upright instead of using its arms as well. They thought it was a cross between a man and a chimp, or a Humanize as they called it, but it turned out it was just a chimp that seem to like to walk upright. There were even theories that it was a new sub-species.

Although 'Bear' was listed I still voted for 'other' 'Bear' just doesn't cut it. People will think of scruffy black bears or maybe a polar bear... Some might think of the Kodiak which is alot closer but me, no there's only one 'Bear' that stands out in my mind; The Megalithic Bear of Prehistoric North America (Its closest living relative is the Godbear of The Chemkatchka Peninsula). Here's my reason. This is a 'fable' told by the olderst of north american indian tribes. The Spirits (It varies with the tribe as to the specific entity) Created the world and upon it they spread the animals of nature. Along with them came Man and soon man was destroying what the Spirits created. The animals cried out for aid and the Spirits created Bear. Bear would keep Man's violations of nature in check. That is why Bear is noble and why I could not check the 'bear' in the list. Interesting story Lirreka. Btw love the new sig.

OOH, Charlie, he's awsome, walks upright, was a chain smoker, his hips are mis-shaped, were they normal he would not stay up for more than a few moments, and he sucks in trees

Interesting story Lirreka. Btw love the new sig. Well from what palentologists have determined is the Megalithic bear was over 6 feet at the shoulder while on all fours, had a skull that measured over 3 feet long and could outrun a race horse. This thing must have seemed like a demon or a god rolled into one to the early migrators to North America.

Yes, Lirr, hun, and infact the other superpreditors never touched it, there have been evidence that suggests that while in a dominant shot over its territory it had the streanth to kill a mamoth, and shatter the Giant Sloth with a single swipe, a saber tooth never stood a remote chance..
and on that note even big cats today still cant hold their own against a bear of any breed, again because of the bears raw streangth, and its thick hide

Ow ow I hope they do that with the Haast Eagle, the huge eagle that used to live in NZ with a 3 metre wingspan. I want to train one to let me ride on its back. ;D

One thing they've proven about these bears is they weren't pigeon toed, like modern bears are. They had running power and more importantly striking power to bring both paws AND jaws to bear on a target.
