The Vorcia Class Light Cruiser is the most recent design from the Ebonclaw-Strega shipyards. At just over 150 meters long the Vorcia Class ships are just in the range of capital ship while retaining the greater maneuverability similiar to smaller vessels. With a power core and engines hardened against ion disruption coupled with greater maneuverability the Vorcias are tailor made to run blockades or evade customs ships. The particle and ion shields have dual channel backups permitting a second set of shields to be raised after the first have fallen. Armed with 8 turret-mounted heavy-dual laser cannons and a pair of fire-linked belly-mounted photon torpedo tubes the Vorcias would be a considered a stout match for any ship of similiar size, however the Vorcias are built around a spinal-mount modular weapon system to give them a 'bite' like the famed vorcel hawks of Obroa-skai. Most mount a high-yield heavy ion cannon but that can be replaced with a set of 6 fire-linked concussion missile or ion missle racks to spice up the lives of those that have come to expect the ion cannon. Regardless of the weapon mounted the forward firing spinal mount requires the ship to be maneuvered to change targets. Much like the Barra-cress the Vorcias are protected by Dura-flow laminate armor which takes nano-fiberous fluid and sandwiches it between layers of durasteel to add to the ships already impressive defenses. Beneath the port and starboard concave 'wings' the Vorcia can carry 12 Ssa'yinn mounted to access hatches and moored to hull of the ship. This area can also be retrofited for larger ships but the fighters must be removed. The Vorcias also have top and bottom 'Raider bridges' which are hardened to permit the ship to shove these angled airlocks against the hull of a ship. External mounted ion cutters and vibro drills allow the Vorcia to serve in boarding raids. A departure from the typical Ebonclaw designs the Vorica-Class electronic systems are not built with true Bio-tech but instead a 'step down' organic technology. While still possessing the greater resistance to ion disruption and shorter repair time then standard hard tech, the organic structures while living are not capable of growth or the nodule self-preservation of bio-tech. The Vorcia is a versitile ship capable of serving many needs in a rapidly evolving navy. The Vorcia-class ships mark the initial offering of Ebonclaw-built ships being offered for public sale. Currently these ships can be purchased only at the Obroa-Skai Shipyards but as the presence of the Ebonclaws solidifies they will no doubt be offered at other locations.
