August's Training

[Lakkerun Joh'had]

*I sit and meditate on a large stool situated near the end of an empty room. The room is well-lit and well furnished, with comfy chairs and tables littered across. Amazingly well spaced, there appears to still be enough room in the large area to train with a lightsabre. Good Feng Shui in here...*

August walked in slowly, his black cloak shrouding him in an aura of darkness. It seemed as though his moment of peace was already beginning to be torn apart again. However, his hand had finally been replaced. He wore a black glove over the hand though, as so it wouldn't be seen.

He slid his cloak off slowly, holding it on his forearm as he approached his Master, careful not to disturb him. He placed his cloak alongside another stool, though this one was much smaller in comparison. August seated himself, and began to meditate, hoping his Master would feel his connection.

*As I meditate, the unmistakeable tinglings of the Force crawl at my mind. The process is almost indescribible, but nevertheless, it alerts me to the presence of August entering the room.

Keeping my eyes closed, I pause for nearly a minute, allowing August to reach a state of semi-peacefullness. Then I speak in a deep, but soothing and relaxed voice.*

"Tell me again, August. Why have you decided it would be best to join the Jedi Order?"

[August/Heetho]

August blared for a moment, deep in thought, but remembered the days when he would slave away in fields. For a second, the force was so powerful iminating from his body, that his cloak ruffled, though it was quickly sustained. He remained control once more, keeping his eyes closed as his Master spoke.

"There once was a boy, who was very young. He had so much love that it began to poison him to the point when running away was a vacation. He finally left those that loved him so dearly, and was forced into slavery. He spent most of his life in those fields picking deadly, but exspensive poisons. He poisoned his owner, and in the fry, escaped. During those years, he received no love. When he was by himself, he had no one, and his loneliness ate away at him. He finally found someone that would be a guardian towards him, and finally guide him along the true path. You understand now why I wish to be in the Jedi Order? That should happen to no one Master Lakkerun. Some are born with tragedy in their blood." He was calm, collected, as if he had been rehersing that when he one day found someone who would listen. He still had his eyes closed, and he was beginning to dwell into his deep thoughts. While at the same time, it was as if he was emitting a sonar through the force, and for a breif moment, he could see everything clearly, then he would loose it again. This could be felt as he shifted through memories.

"Emotion can cloud one's vision, August. It's a difficult balance for a Jedi, but one you must maintain.

Please let me explain. A Jedi must have compassion, caring, love for all things living. A Jedi must be able to feel and give hope to all creatures, life to all creatures, happiness to all creatures.

So in a way, a Jedi must surround himself in such emotions. But they are dangerous. You cannot become attatched to a particular person, it clouds your judgement too much.

Imagine, if you will, that you are a Jedi Knight, and you have fallen deeply in love with another Jedi Knight. This, hopefully, female Jedi betrays the Order, and you are called upon to fight her, to bring her down.

Now you are faced with one of the worst dillemma's a man could face: duty or love. See what I mean? This sort of strife cannot happen in a Jedi.

However, your reasons are understandable, acceptable, and possibly even admirable.

Now then. Let's move on, towards the first thing a Jedi must understand, and it ties in with this little chat. The Jedi Code. First of all, do you know the Code?"

K'tal sighed as he realized exactly how much a Jedi must sacrafice in order to actually be a Jedi, though, he was willing to take this challenge. In the end, he hoped, he would get his reward. He was paying attention as his master spoke, though, still trained in thought. He bore through the passage ways of his mind, attempting to retrieve this code, but had come up empty handed.

"No Master Lakkerun, I do not." In the back of his head, he thought, 'First training excercise, and I already feel like the new kid.', but the thought quickly left.

"Don't worry, I didn't think you would. No offense. Anyway, this is the Jedi Code:

There is no emotion, there is peace
There is no passion, there is serenity
There is no ignorance, there is knowledge
There is no chaos, there is harmony
There is no death, there is the Force

Now then. Wise words, interpreted many ways. But tell me, what do you think they mean?"

August took a moment to reflect the code, then decided it was best to attack it one line at a time.

"There is no emotion, there is peace: if peace was the only emotion we possessed, then we wouldn't have quarrels of any sort.

There is no passion, there is serenity: If we didn't have to stress ourselves over passion for another, then we could focus on something more important.

There is no ignorance, there is knowledge: If we knew what to do in situations that would otherwise seem horrible, we could make the best of them.

There is no chaos, there is harmony: When we are not at war with each other, everyone would get along, and thus we would function better as a people."

He paused for a second, reflecting on the last line of the code. He sighed, then continued, "And finally:

There is no death, there is the Force: We do not die, we simply become the force, and inbed ourselves into another chosen one."

August was confident in his translations, though he had to check, just in case, "Are these answers acceptable Master Lakkerun?"

*I pause for a moment, mumbling something incomprehensible, mulling over what had just been said...*

"Yes, indeed it is acceptable. Curious though, I have not heard that interpretation of the Code before. Not wrong, but different.

Okay then. I believe you understand the Code. Now you must become the Code. By that, I mean every action you make must be judged against the Jedi Code. Every step you make, must be something a Jedi would do according to the Code. It must become a subconscious part of you, something you could recite if you were brainwashed by Mandalorian techs, which by the way, and not to scare you or anything, is actually very possible."

August thought for a moment over what his Master was thinking, then decided it best not to worry. He was still in his meditating position, listening to his Master.

"Master, I realized the risks of joining the order when I said I would. I am prepared to do whatever it takes. And I will stick to the code Master, you have nothing to worry about."

"I have much to worry about, August. But your confidence is reassuring, nevertheless.

Alright then. Let's get on to some history lessons. Tell me everything you know of the Jedi Order. Leave nothing out, no matter how trivial it may seem..."

[August/Heetho]

August took a deep breath, filtering through his mind for any bits of information.

"I know there are younglings, which grow into padawans once a Jedi Master takes one. I know there are several different color lightsabers, and then there are rare kinds of lightsabers. I know Sith do something to make their's red...I know Sith aren't really evil. Their ideas of peace are just different from the Jedi's. I know Jedi focus on powers that mainly cannot harm someone, more incapasitate them. I know that all force users can learn moves deemed on the Dark Side, or the Light Side. I realize that my life is now indebt to protecting. I know that there once were powerful Sith Lords who ruled the galaxy. I know most things have to be passed by the counsel. I know that it is possible for a Jedi to fall to the Dark Side at any time...That's about it."

He thought he didn't really know all that much, though he had hoped it would suffice.

"Good to start with.

Where are the main Jedi Academies across the galaxy?"

[August/Heetho]

"The only one I know is this one, and Dantooine. Sorry Master." Sin's thoughts quickly plunged into guilt as he could no know any more. He seemed to be lacking in the knowledge of the force.

"Dantooine is one.

Right now we are on the academy on Coruscant.

There are also academies on Alderaan, Ossus, Corellia, and Telos, if I remember correctly...

There are also more, smaller academies across the galaxy, but those are the main ones."
