Lu Kane's Training

[Jedi Master Arlon Kyjar]

*Arlon stands in one of the training rooms, wearing his normal black master robes. He is in the centre of the room, meditating silently and waiting for his new padawan, Lu Kane.*

[Lu Kane]

*Kane walks silently into the room, his tan robes sweeping across the floor as he goes. He approaches Arlon and clears his throat*

"Ahem... I am here master"

[Jedi Master Arlon Kyjar]

*Arlon had sensed the boy coming towards him and had ended his meditation as he approached. He rose to his feet, his robe extending to it's full length. He turns around and looks down at the boy.*

"Hello, my padawan. How are you this day?"

[Lu Kane]

*Kane looks up into his eyes, a steady and calm look on his face and smiles*

"I'm feeling pretty good master, how are you?"

[Jedi Master Arlon Kyjar]

"Perplexed, right now. Everything is far too peaceful, more so than usual. Even the bounty hunters are slowing their activity. Something bad is going to happen soon, I can tell... But enough about that, are you ready to begin your training?"

[Lu Kane]

*Kane nodded slowly, his thoughts reluctantly switching from what his master had said to his training, he wa dying to get out there and prove his worth to his fellow jedi.*

"Yes master"

[Jedi Master Arlon Kyjar]

"Please recite to me the code of the Jedi, if you can."

[Lu Kane]

"There is no emotion; there is peace.
There is no ignorance; there is knowledge.
There is no passion; there is serenity.
There is no chaos; there is harmony.
There is no death; there is the Force."

[Jedi Master Arlon Kyjar]

"Very good, my padawan, you know the code, but how much do you understand what it means? Will you tell me what each section of the code means to yourself, please?"

[Lu Kane]

"There is no emotion; there is peace. Meaning that I must not give in to my baser emotions, that I must always be at peace and in control of myself.

There is no ignorance; there is knowledge. That I must attain knowledge and seek it always, never must I be ignorant.

There is no passion; there is serenity. I should never give in to my passion, let it be hate, anger or even love, always must I be at peace with my inner self.

There is no chaos; there is harmony. I must remain calm at all times as a Jedi should be, never giving in and becoming chaotic in my ways.

There is no death; there is the Force. When my body gives out, my spirit will return itself into the Force, and one will I become with it"

[Jedi Master Arlon Kyjar]

"You did good, but you brought up one of my hard points about this. Love... Were it not for love, we would not be alive right now, nothing would, everyone would die alone and civilization would be devastated. Love can be the dark side, true, but it can also be the antidote to said energy. My father and my grand father were both married, and only my grandfather fell to darkness, and only once. It was my father's love for his wife that kept him with the light all those years, until he died while I was away. Sad day... It is my love for my father, the memory I hold of him, that keeps me here. Remember that."

[Lu Kane]

"True. I believe in love myself, but I was just stating the Jedi ordeal, without love we would be nothing"

[Jedi Master Arlon Kyjar]

"Good. Now, there is one other thing... The past means nothing, it is who you are at the present that defines a person in my eyes. If you ever lose track of the light, all you have to do is remember one instant, or one person, and it should be enough to get through."

[Lu Kane]

"I will try master, I will not fail you..."

[Jedi Master Arlon Kyjar]

"There is no failure. As long as you do exactly what is set for you to do in your life, you have not failed at anything. Now tell me, are you in possesion of a lightsaber yet?"
