For those who haven't rented/bought/played the game, I'm here to answer your questions.
8/10
The game was so addictive and fun, but the voice acting and what they said were the main problem. They sounded like a computer translated them from Japanese to English. They gave no pause after a period, but they did give a pause at a comma. And the Japanese Voice acting was bad too. When you made a character, the same guy and girl did each voice. Young man 1&2, Man, Old man were the same voice but slightly different. Their were three different women for the female voices. But for the original characters, the ones throughout the series, were the same voices as the last few games but with different dialog.
The "Create-a-Soul" was very fun. When you begin, you start off with choosing Male or female. There are no gender attributes, both man and women have no advantages over each other. Next you choose between an average set of classes. Barbarian, Saint, Dancer, Monk, Thief, and Ninja. You will be able to unlock more classes later in the game!
Ask Questions of the Create-a-Soul.
You can play your custom character in a single player game called "Chronicles of the Soul". And to end all rumors, your character is NOT AI. You control his/her attacks, grips, special, ducking, the works. The stroy line is okay, not the best, but okay. When playing Chronicles of the Soul, in the beginning, you can create two other companions to come with you and fight in your party. You will get a partner, Aenes, who will also be in your party in the begining. Their will be a tutorial to help you get through. Now just because when you play Chronicles, it will look like an old retarted RPG game from the 90's doesn't mean it is. When you engage and enemy (Basicly click on your character, and press battle when a soldier is fighting you) you will enter the mode when you will fight with your character in Sould Calibur Style. You have to play to understand.
Tales of Souls, which you can't use your custom fighter in, is like the old one with a little more RPG element. You choose from options like if you want to destroy the information on Soul Edge, or the biggest threat against you. And on some levels, they have a Resident Evil 4 ripoff style. When an enemy throws a weapon at you, you have to press a button to dodge it and if you don't you go into battle damaged. There are different endings, and each are interesting.
And to End alot of speculation, there are more then three new characters. Zasalamel, Setsuka, and Tira are only three of newbs. Siegfried (Former Nightmare) has broken the curse of Nightmare and become human so he is a single character, and a new Nightmare is there as well.
There is another mode called Tournament mode where you fight in a tournament (Duh). You can play "Secret Characters" Unlocked from Chronicles of the sword.
There is also three shops. The first shop is an armor shop where you can buy different items to dress your character with. They are put into three catagories. The first few catagories are for men, and the next three are for women.
Then there's the Weapon shop where you buy, of course, weapons.
The the item shop where you buy bonus stages, missions for training mode, concept art and portraits, and you can also buy classes for your characters.
BONUS CLASSES THAT YOU CAN BUY/UNLOCK:
Pirate
Assasin
Swordmaster
Gladiator
Samurai
Sage
