Valus Thall calmly took in a deep breath, and exhaled just as slowly, calming his body for the no doubt brutal combats that lay ahead. He clutched his saber hilt close to his chest as he sat, cross legged in the center of the room, focusing the Force within himself. He was inexperienced, no more than a Padawan, but he was here to learn none-the-less, and he could think of few places to better master his growing concept of saber combat than in the duelling arena.
Releasing his breath one last time, Valus slowly opened his eyes and looked once more upon his surroundings. Dull and bleak, nothing of interest or combative advantage, the room was a fair battle ground, and so the young Jedi nodded his head approvingly at it as he rose to his feet with a sigh. His simple Jedi robes gathering around him, his cloak discarded in the corner, and his saber in hand, Valus channelled the energy of the Force within the room through himself, becoming a conduit, a focal point for the chaotic tides. He felt himself become lighter, faster, more charged with energy and capability as he became one with the Force, a nigh tangible aura forming around him as he lit the amethyst blade of his lightsaber. His gaze held the door, watching and waiting for his foe to arrive.

*Kel walks in armored boots clicking as they hit the floor. The black faceplate revels nothing of the man behind it. In his hands he holds a Merr-Sonn BC7 medium blaster carbine with the optional rocket-grenade attachment. On his belt two heavy blasters and a Merr-Sonn Devastator trench-style vibroknife hang. Crossed in a X on his back are two simple swords.* "No lightsabers, can you handle that Jedi?" *Are the only words he speaks to his opponent.*

Valus did not budge, his form statuesque as he faced the opposition. He considered the request, but did not take long to respond, "My apologies, good sir, but it is a request I cannot comply with. If you would prefer I can refrain from the usage of the Force, but the saber stays."

*Kel stays perfectly still thinking the request over. Noting the fact his opponent seems to be a padawan, young and most likely unexperienced in combat.* No, use everything you got Jedi I can take it.
