I don't think that he nececarily blew the call, he just (and he admitted it today) wasn't clear in what he was calling. He didn't definitively call Pernitzky (sp?) out, but he also didn't call it a non catch. So the batter was smart to run to 1st base. the worse they could have done was call him out. and by running, he may have given the ump enough doubt to not call him out for sure. Pls, the ump doesn't have the benefit of instant replay. Like Toxis said, the average pitch takes less than a second to reach the plate. The ump has to decide where the pitch crosses the plate and whatnot. that can't be easy.
Baseball should have instant replay.

NO!! well, if they did it like the NFL (gave the manager like 2-3 challenges/game) I think it might work...There have been a lot of questionalble calls in the last few years...

I think that, especially with the whole steroids thing, that baseball could throw us fans a bone or something. at least make it seem like they are taking our concerns seriously. It hs become laughable how games are ending lately. And by lately, I am going back to 1996 when Derek Jeter hit that "home run" to lead teh Yankees to victory over the Orioles. and I am a Yankee fan...

honestly, I find baseball tends to bore me out of my mind, I'd rather be playing sports than watching OTHER people play them on TV

LOL I am just messing with you. I am the same way about most sports. Playing them is so much better than watching.

I hate baseball actually it's better to be at the games (I went to the Red Sox/Yankees game in 2002 where there were 8 home runs hit in the entire game and had the time of my life) or to be playing it since there's something to do to keep you active
