Go! Anyway, I usually have a plan but its usually pretty loose to take into account what whoever I RP with will do. Generally though the outcome is already decided.

Mine usuallly involves fighting...but if its a serious rp then usually a loose plan

I voted playing it by ear, but that is only the tip of the iceberg.
When going into to battle I plan with the utmost caution and think of any possible outcome.
When free forming for fun I just wing it. Duels I just wing it since that cant be planned fully.

usually have a loose rp, but sometimes playing it by ear helps too.
