Go to this website and see what kind of things are being released into the air, water, etc around you. Simply type in your zip code and press the button to get the report. You'd be surprised about what is around you. www.scorecard.org/

not surprised, I already distrust everything and everyone, simply because it's pretty obvious that they ALL lie, and that most are just pupets,, like the " limited fossil fule " crap,, um, the earth naturally makes oil dead animals and plants cant make a hypercarbon, but Iron and lime can,

Another thing, if you have some problems with some of the terminology or other aspects of what is written inside, ask me and I'll do my best to answer. This afterall is my major...Environmental Health. I'm done with classes just waiting to do my internship. Call it boredom or just wanting to open some eyes. Have fun. ;D

I very much doubt the world produces fossil fuels at the same rate we are burning them off and the hole in the o-zone layer didn't come from no where.

in the UK we need to move to nuclear power 80% nuclear 10% renewable (HEP / Wind / Solar etc) 10% non-renewable (coal, oil etc)
the only thing that is bad about nuclear is leaks, explosions. Also it is a prime target fot terrorists.

No your right matt, it take alot of time for the planet to make oil, however we have not really tapped it much at all, and we dont tap deep, we use small pockets, then move over a few inches for another
Now, when Oil was first discovered to be a good source, it was by a siberian buisness man who came up with the fossle crap
which is utterly crap, Fossils cant make oil,
if that were so then why is there oil pockets dating back to the Precambrian era which includes the Proterozoic eon and the Archean eon spanning about 2000 years each, that single celled organisms like blue-green algae and bacteria. first appeared. Towards the end of the Archean eon the first multicellular, soft bodied animals began to emerge such as jellyfish, seapens, and worms. there was no large animals , and no true plants....
is Oil unlimited?, our planet is small so no, eventually Im sure we can tap it out
are we running low? No,,,, but saying we are every few years is an exscuse to Up the price
look at this situation "conveniantly" the hurricains helped with oil prices, they skyrocket, we pay twice what it was..yet oddly enough most refineries are fine, most arnt even in the gulf.....
oil priced drop a few pence, or cents and people are happy..but look at this, the prices are still higher than they were last year, but people don't bitch too much sence the 50 pence, cent drop is better than it was
Now, Oil is for the most part unlimited for a few more centuries..but big oil companies are blocking attempts at other fule sources, or buying pattens for hydrogen and such, and sitting on it,, that way when people refuse the oil thing they can sell the new clean technology for quite alot, making it so only the wealthiest can afford it at first, that way they can taper the profit margins
Profit?.. humm, funny for how there is such an oil crisis yet the companies have been recording 200% or greater profit gains
and yes mat the ozone did come from some place, magnetics and volcanos
which remember in the 80's/90's how everyone was getting " there is a hole in it" scare?.....well not any more no holes at all utterly intact, it IS abit thinner in some spots, but thats normal around pole shiftings
there, that is my rant

There other things that are bad about nuclear power, dear. There has to be a way to store or get rid of the uranium rods that are used, i. e. waste. Currently, they are stored in deep and I mean very deep pools of water in special metal containers (See pic below). There has been no efficient discovery of how to reuse these rods. There are processes where there is uranium renewal going on, but again it is still in it's infancy and not practical at this time. There will come a time when we'll run out of places to store these spent rods and wastes. PLUS, once water is in contact with these rods, you also have to deal with handling that water as a waste product as well. Overall, the nuclear power idea is very efficient and good. Spent uranium that is at a safe level is often used to make tank busters (heavy shells to burst through tank hulls). The US has come up with a possible storage area and has met much resistence over this issue as well...Yucca Mountain in Nevada. Here's some info on it. www.ocrwm.doe.gov/ymp/index.shtml

The storage isnt really a problem all you have to do is put the waste is containers - fill it with cement etc and dump it in the middle of the ocean. It is a much better form of energy than any others at the moment - for example: -Nuclear power costs about the same as coal, so it's not really expensive -Does not produce smoke or carbon dioxide, so it does not contribute to the greenhouse effect. -Produces huge amounts of energy from small amounts of fuel. -Produces small amounts of waste.
also most of all it is reliable
However
Although not much waste is produced, it is extremly dangerous and must be sealed up and buried/put in the ocean for many years to allow the radioactivity to die away.
then you have the chance of things going wrong like in Chernobyl. But i doubt that woud happen.

Uranium waste.... Uranium bombs..... bye bye terrorists The uranium is depleted so it's useless. But hydroelectricity is better. Hydroelectric plants are immune to price increases for fossil fuels such as oil, natural gas or coal, and do not require imported fuel. The plants also have generally small to negligible emissions of carbon dioxide and methane due to reservoir emissions, and emit no sulfur dioxide, nitrogen oxides, dust, or other pollutants associated with combustion. Thats why Quebec is so cool. 90% of our energy is from hydroelectric plants. We rule.

Most of the energy in my area is hydroelectric. Gotta love TVA. Anyhoo, it isn't feasible everywhere. The big thing that comes in play is.......is there water nearby? Not everyone has that luxury, dear.

Yep AND most hydroelectric plants burn coal for extra energy too. Most of the time hydroelectric alone isn't enough. They just want you to think that.
