The biggest one i can make is about 5-6 km and could hold some battleships though that will cost cargo space and some weapon ports lowering it to 300 ports
any bigger and it is a space station

You can add. Docking points (standard is one)
Cargo space (makes it bigger)
Small shipyard (2 ships every 4 days)
