Rayz set the ale that he had grabbed for Mau on the table in front of her and asked, "Just curious how you got in to this line of work. In my experience, it's not exactly the most benevolent type of work, especially for someone of your... build?" Rayz thought carefully about the questions he asked because he was relatively certain that she'd simply reflect the question back to him once she answered. ooc: hey, i'm leaving the office now, so it might be a little bit before i can get back on. maybe an hour or two? just didn't want to keep you hanging...

She glared at him for a moment. "My build? You mean because I'm a woman?"
She snorted. She'd heard that sort of thing before. She'd learned to ignore it, but it still agitated her beyond anything else.
"Mmmm....if you must know... I needed something to do and I had the skills required. My father was a bounty hunter. He taught me things. I asure you, I am far better than any man."
OOC: Okies. ;D I have to go soon anyways.

Rayz chuckled as he figuratively put his foot in his mouth... He often stumbled with his adjectives when not talking to the usual dregs of life that he usually dealt with. "No need to get upset," Rayz stated, "I meant only that I have not seen many women in this line of work, and of the few that I have met, I don't know of any who are still alive." In the past, Rayz had found that he could read much more in to a person by what was not said, rather than through what they chose to share. This sense told him that this Mau was of a much higher caliber of character than any he'd worked with in the past. Although he was relatively certain that she was as capable of the task he had in mind as she claimed to be, he chose to continue the small talk for at least a little while longer in an effort to gain any knowledge about her that could possibly be useful in the future. "There's not usually much work on planets this far from the core systems. These Banking Clan folk are really not very keen on parting with their credits. I am just curious what you were hoping to find?" Rayz wished he could have taken that last statement back as soon as he'd said it. She had strolled in to the cantina, and soon after he had proposed the possibility of a job. It seems that for Mau at least, this was the perfect place to come looking for work... As pleasing as Mau was to the eyes, she was surely making it difficult for Rayz to concentrate. He was thankful that as they spoke and got to know each other a bit, his awkwardness began to subside.

"Well, I'm not like most women." She winked at him.
She raised her eyebrows slightly, but decided to oblige his questions. They were harmless. "I was in the nieghborhod, after my last job. So, I thought I'd take a look around.... I'm not very familiar with these parts. I wasn't sure if I'd find anything or not."

Rayz smiled subtly at the wink from Mau. "Yes, I'm certainly beginning to get the impression that you are not at all like most women," said Rayz.
He decided that he was comfortable enough with her now that trust her at least enough to take part in the proposal he had to offer.
"Well if you have any questions for me, I'd be more than happy to entertain them," offered Rayz. "Otherwise, we can get to discussing the business at hand."

Mau leaned forward, smirking.
"Just curious about how you got into this line of work, fly boy." she said, imitating him. "In my experience, it's not exactly the most benevolent type of work, especially for someone like you."

"Heh heh heh," Rayz chuckled. "A bit of a wise-ass, are we? Well I suppose the answer to that question is somewhat related to the business at hand." Rayz explained his history with Butar the Hutt, how he had ripped him off, and how Butar would now like nothing more than to see Rayz's head mounted on his wall. (See Rayz's profile from link above my sig for more detail.) "Since then, I've simply been doing random jobs for people who can afford me. Not all of them have been, shall i say, clean, but then, who in this field actually has a completely clean conscience?" Rayz leaned forward toward Mau after scanning the cantina for signs that anyone might be listening in to the conversation and quietly explained his plan. "Which brings me to the job I had in mind. You do seem to be quite capable of handling yourself in the midst of a less than perfect environment. I would really like to be able to live my life freely without having to worry about one of Butar's thugs putting a blade to my throat or a blaster bolt in my back. A Hutt is not exactly the easiest target for a hit, but they do tend to keep many valuables in their immediate area. The deal is, you help me take care of Butar and anyone else he has guarding him at his refuge on Tattooine, and I let you keep 40% of whatever we find in his store rooms. Nothing paid up front, but I do know my way through his headquarters quite well, vaults, storerooms, everything. This could be quite profitable for you if, of course, you're up to the challenge." He sat back in his chair, took a sip of his drink, and carefully examined her facial expressions as she pondered the proposal he had just put before her.

Mau listened to his eplanation of both his past and his job in silence, letting it all sink in. Once he was finished she held her silence for several moments more, pondering. On the one hand, she didn't like doing things were the pay was uncertain. On the other, she found that she rather liked him. Helping him out might be fun as well as profitable...
"Alright, I'll do it."

Rayz smiled. "I'd hoped you would say that. My shuttle has already been stocked and prepared for departure. I'd suggest we get a decent night's sleep and head out first thing in the morning. I'll fill you in on the plans once we're en route."
ooc: i'll start a new thread and send you the link in pm, ok?

"Brilliant." She smiled. "I guess I'll meet you at your shuttle then?"
OOC: Okies. ;D
