*He stirred in his sleep, thinking of the times he and Rajani had spent together all those years ago. They were good friends and they were secretly lovers.
He thought of the good times, but more specifically the last time he saw her. It was when the two were compeating for apprenticeship under a Dark Jedi Master. Rajani pulled off the grandest stunt of them all, but no where near as good as the assassinations on Coruscant. He had stolen the credit for the stunt and their Master selected him for apprenticeship. Rajani almost killed him in anger but eventually fled.
He shot out of the bed, sweating. He gets up and starts to put a shirt on, but finds that it is too hot in the quarters. He noticed the temperature is close to 100 degrees Ferinheit.
He left the quarters and headed to the cockpit where Rajani was piloting the ship. She was so incredibly beautiful, her presence soothing to him. He smiled, but then took on his cocky, cavalier attitude when she noticed him.*
"How long have I been out?"
*He had been fine when they first escaped onto the ship, but eventually his wounds from crashing onto the roof at full speed caught up with him. He had coughed up some blood and then passed out. That was all he could remember. He couldn't even remember going to his quarters, and he was covered in bandages.*

*She didn't even turn her head to him but continued mulling over something in the main console while the ship traveled through hyperspace.*
"Not nearly long enough. I had hoped the heat would have kept you under for longer. That damn medical droid needs to be tweaked when we get to port."

"Are you ever going to get over that? I feel terrible and have apologzied."
*She did not answer him. He roled his eyes and sat in the co-pilots seat. He looked to her for a moment, but there was still a cold, expressionless face. Something seemed different about her. Something that he wasn't sure about.*
"What happened to you?"

"You think your apology is enough?"
*She turned around to face him with malice in her eyes.*
"You wait until I make a big move again to seek me out. Truly if you wanted to find me you would have done so earlier. Just what's the game, Carden? Hmm?"

"Look, sweetheart. I didn't even know you were behind this attack until I saw all the carnage. I recognized the style and had a hunch that it was you. I wasn't completely sure until I pulled up beside your speeder. I just wanted to get in on some of the action and help out. When I thought that it was you...I just wanted to make sure you were safe. Honestly, I swear on my brother's life...I'm telling the truth."
*He leans in closer to her.*
"I've changed. I really have. I'm not the greedy, self-centered asshole I used to be. Honestly..."

*She chuckles at this.*
"Oh no. I can see you've changed. Changed so much that you were going to take the glory until you saw who already had it. Your story is really.." *pause for effect* "..touching, but I still don't buy it. Besides, I have business to attend to. You helped save my life and I saved yours. We're even now."
*The look on her face when she turned away seemed to change a bit as she spoke these next words.*
"You should rest with those wounds. Can't have you dying on me if it isn't by my hand."

"Blast it, Rajani! If anyone hasn't changed, it's you. It's been three years. I think now that we're trying to run from the same people we should be able to trust each other. I'm not going to betray you or kill you, and I would like that feeling to be mutual. What do you say? Should we start over on better terms or rip each other to peices and let the Republic catch us?"
*She tries to leave the room, but he blocks the doorway.*
"Besides, if it hadn't of been for me then those Jedi would have caught you and you would be sitting in the Jedi Temple rotting away. I think you could use a partner..."
*He throws his prize-winning, twelve parsec long smile that could charm the ears off of a Gundark at her. She could now do one of two things to him: agree to become his partner and flee from the Jedi who are no doubt looking for them, or she could kill him on the spot. He was hoping for the former, but with Rajani Zahra...one could never truly tell what she was going to do. And that, more than anything, was the scariest thing about her. Becuase, her anger could make the most hardened space pilots shit their pants. He knows...from experience, though he would never admit it.*

*Her hands move to her hips as she glares at him.*
"Out of the way, Carden. Don't think for one second that your charm is going to get to me again. I fell for it once and you took everything that I held precious to me away. I won't have it happen again. Letting you back into my life is like letting a virus take over a terminal and doing nothing to stop it."
*Seeing that he wasn't about to move, she tries to push past him and get away. Just being in close proximity to him brought back the memories and the deep seated anger as well. Yet as she pressed against him forcing her way past, old memories refused to stay repressed and were reawoken. In that moment her mind's eye took her back to one particular night of passion they had shared years ago. It was the night before she went on her mission...the night before he stole her glory and the apprenticeship that should have been her own.*
Her master to be had told her to spend the night before in meditation to prepare for the encounter. It wasn't an easy mission in any aspect. Many of the others who had tried in the past failed horribly. This was hers and she knew it. Her master had looked upon her with almost a sense of pride as even he knew she was unmatched...except for one other. Yet, when she went back to the ship there he was leaning against the hull. The cocky grin and roguish attitude were always what had drawn her to him, but there was more as well...a magnetic personality and commanding presence that she had never seen before. His very presence exuded such strength and power that others trembled in his presence. Yet, Rajani trembled for another reason. Their incessant will to out do the other one was one thing that drove their passion further over time until the next fateful day...the day he betrayed her...
*She blinked her eyes a couple of times and moved away from him again with new kindled anger within her eyes. Her voice was cold yet trembled from either rage or something else.*
"I can handle myself as I have done over the years. I am not some helpless symbiote that must suck on another to survive as you are, Carden. You're nothing more than a mynock!"
*Her hands clasped in a fist as the urge to kill him was so strong she had trouble reigning in her anger and keep from destroying him. He made a valid point yet she wouldn't admit it to his face. She needed his help.*

*He steps back. He knew that she would reject him, but he was still a bit suprised that she did and he didn't know why. He stepped aside to let her go.*
"Fine then, be that way. If you want to reject a perfectly good offer because you're too much of a spoiled brat then go ahead. But, someday you're going to be in a situation where you'll wish you had accepted my offer and you better pray to the Force that I'm there to save you."
*He turned from her and stormed down the hallway, quite angry at what had just taken place. He was not just angry at her, but he was also angry at himself for even saving her. But, that was a decision he was going to have to live with. He was a person who always learned from his mistakes, and he knew that unless she decides to grow up then he won't be saving her.*

*Her mouth dropped open as he uttered those words to her. She wasn't some child he could speak to in that manner. NEVER had anyone spoken to her in such a fashion. Slamming her fist into the panel beside her, she moved down the hallway at a quick pace. Her bootsteps clicked as she walked-ran towards him. Grabbing his arm roughly, she moves in front of him and places her hands on his chest shoving him backwards.*
"Save me? Is that what you called it? I saved your ass out there, Carden. If it wasn't for me, you'd still be hanging off that building or worse in shackles now with the Jedi. It was I that saved you and not the other way around. Be glad you have only a few broken ribs and cuts instead of a lightsaber through your abdomen. Don't you think if I didn't want you you here you wouldn't be?"
*She didn't want to utter the words but once they were out, a part of her was relieved she had.*

"Okay, so you saved me...there. I saved you in the speeder. If it wasn't for me, you would be sitting in Galactic Prison. Or, far worse...the Jedi Temple. So, I guess we saved each other now didn't we?"

"I guess so."
*She searched his eyes for a moment as her breast still heaved with anger before she pulled her hands back from him. Moving past him, she back towards the cockpit leaving him standing there. The moment was an awkward one and she needed distance from him. Finding her way back to the pilot's seat, she double checked the air frequencies and found it clear. Slowing the engines, she then altered their course heading for the base at Ruusan. The trip would still take about 3 days from where they were, but going off the beaten trail had made sure if anyone had even been trying to follow them, they would become lost. She propped her left elbow on the armrest and rubbed her forehead. She needed him around, but she didn't want him to know it. The trip the rest of the way home would prove very interesting indeed.*
