Building the Business

[Kapar'in Va]

Krypten smiled underneath his helmet. Lord Byrax was right. It seemed his mere presence was going to be enough to swing the meeting in Byrax's favor.

[Anton Byrax]

*The party walked through the seemingly endless
corridors of the Shipyard complex, occasionally stopping so that Anton could survey several Projects that were under construction. The place was dark and stank of Burning Metal and various chemicals used in the construction of these vessels, The native group appeared to be happy with Antons compliments and he was sure it would all amount to a generous deal.
Entering the offices, Anton was invited to sit as Ti'k Shan did so.*

"So Lord? Byrax, you wish me to provide you with a fleet of Freighters....."


*Anton noticed a slight change in tone from the Man, keeping his face warm and inviting Anton spoke with steel in his voice.*

"You know why i'm here, and i expect to be treated fairly." *He said looking back at the Mandalorian.*

*For several hours the the two discuss a possible contract, Anton setting out the exact requirements and specifications for the ships. At intervels Ti'k Shan would throw in costs for certain add ons and the like, to which the young noble simply smiled.*

"This is all you require? i have many vessels sporting the specifications you need here. The others should take only a few weeks for me to get hold off."

"Yes indeed, i think that should be fine."

*Ti'k Shan sat tampering with a data slate and then slid it over the table to Anton, Taking it the young man smiled wryly at the figure Ti'k Shan had wrote onto the display. Erasing the figure Anton wrote his own and slid it back. The words 'Non-negotiable' were writin underneath it.*

"This is an outrage, how can you expect us to give you the vessels for such a poultry sum?!"

*Looking at Krypten Jeth once more, Anton replied.*

"There is allways a way......"

Krypten had remained silent throughout the tour of the facility, though his eyes missed nothing. While Byrax and Ti'k Shan worked out the details of the purchase, Krypten stood slightly behind his boss, his arms crossed his chest. At Lord Byrax's last comment, his right hand slid down and rested on the handle of his heavy blaster pistol.

"It is settled then! The pleasure was mine i'm sure."

*Standing Anton looked down on a dumbfounded Ti'k Shan.*

"I shall expect you to notifiy me when the Ships are ready, And if you would be so good as to deliver them promptly. I look forward to dealing with you again in the future."

*Leaving the office Anton headed for the Landing Pads.*

*Having returned The Subjugator Anton boarded closely followed by Jeth, ordering a droid to fetch some food for them both he then told the pilot his next destination.*

"Now we shall see what the Factories of Eos have to offer."

*The ship roared back into orbit and set course for the blasted rock that was Eos.*

Krypten removed his helmet as the Subjugator lifted off towards Eos. "That went quite smoothly Lord Byrax. I do not think that they will try to con us."

*As the ship travelled through hyperspace the two men dined but little was said, after some time the pilot spoke over the ship comm.*

"Sir, we have arrived."

*Having checked his clothes were still looked crisp, Anton decided to leave his weapons onboard.*

"I dont expect i shall need my weapons here, i would advise that you tone down your armament for this one aswell. My family have purchased units from this place before, and i think keeping good relations with them would be wise."

"Of course, sir." He placed his sniper rifle carefully in the case he had brought for it and unstrapped his vibrosword, keeping only his blaster pistol with him. Although he trusted Anton's judgement, he was not about to wander around completely unarmed. "I am ready when you are sir."

*Landing swiftly Anton walked out into the docking bay, speaking with the dock master he and the mandalorian were taken to meet Kalash vern the corporation rep of the Droid Factory.
After formal greetings Anton decided to get down to the business at hand.*

"We are a fledgling Trading Company and are looking to enhance the Security of our future convoys, in these troubled time one cannot relie on the likes of the Jedi or any other such group for protection and so i have taken upon myself ensure safety of the goods iam transporting."
My aide here is eagar to inspect the type of Droid you build here, to make sure that the quality of your workmanship is trustworthy."

*A protocal droid entered the room and motioned
Krypten to follow him so that he could inspect any units they had, while Anton worked out what exactly he would need in terms of numbers.*

Krypten followed the protocol droid as it led him through a series of hallways, eventually reaching a cavernous room where rows upon rows of battle droids stood.
"Excuse me, Dathomar? This gentleman is here to examine the battledroids." The protocol droid brought Krypten over to where a human was rewiring a disassembled droid.
Dathomar. My name is Krypten Jeth. I beleive you were expecting me?" Krypten extended his hand and Dathomar shook it.
"Yes, of course. I have samples of the 3 types Lord Byrax requested: pilot, gunner, and soldier. If you will follow me, we can test them out and see if they meet your specifications."

Krpyten followed Dathomar across the room and into a smaller room that looked as if it had once been a hanger. One end housed several computers and other machines that Krypten had never seen before. The other end was set up to be a firing range/obstacle course.
"Which droid would you like to test first?" Dathomar asked?
"I think perhaps the pilot and gunner models. I am fairly certain they are up to task. The soldiers I want to take my time examining."
Nodding, Dathomar led Krypten over to the computers and what Krypten now guessed were simulators. Dathomar began entering a few commands into a main terminal and one of the simulators began humming. "This is our pilot simulation. It takes the droid through a typical flight and a pirate attack. You will be able to see how quickly the droids can recognize the attack, analyze it and then respond with evasive manuvers."

"Well my friend, I have seen your work before and feel confident that the units you provide me with will be of a very high standard."

"Iam pleased you favour us so Lord Byrax, I have heard that you are a champion of fair trade and as such i shall give you the best units for the greatest price i can afford."

*Lets hope you never meet Ti'k Shan, Anton thought as he nodded kindly.*

The units are to perform duties aboard defence frigates i forwarded to you the types of unit needed. i shall have something in the region of 12 frigates, each require full crew and a company of between 30 and 50 battledroids for every ship."

I can see no problem with that, once your man has returned and declared the units of fine quality then perhaps we can talk about prices."

Krypten was glad that the simulation sped up the take-off and early part of the flight. He did not need to see any of this. He was sure that the droid could handle basic flight duties. The attack came suddenly as the "pirates" used an asteroid to pull the ships out of hyperspace. Within seconds the droid pilot had radioed commands and the fleet began its manuvers to move to safety while the defence ships began its own counterattack. Krypten was amazed. He had barely registered danger by the time the droid had began moving the ship. "How do the droids relay commands to each other?"
"The droids come preprogrammed with as many defence manuvers as possible. Their defence warning systems allow them to analyze an incoming attack and choose the best course of action. While all the droids are quite capable, one droid will have an enhanced processor. He will be designated as the head pilot. If something happens to him, Lord Byrax will be able to designate a hierarchy so that another droid will take over. All commands are transmitted across a secure connection. And of course, the droids can me set to react independently if you do not want a single droid in charge."
Krypten nodded. He was impressed with what he saw. He followed Dathomar over to the gunner station

Apparently, the gunner droids were set up for the same simulation, because they were still firing at the pirate vessels. The droid's aim was impressive. It led it's targets almost pefectly, responding to the fighter's evasive manuvers. In fact, it seemed that the limiting factor was the responsivness of the guns. "Yes, I think these droids will do nicely. What model turret are they simulating on?"
"Um, I am not sure. Let me check real quick." Dathomar walked over to the main terminal where he shuffled through some papers. "Ah. They are on the MX-92 heavy laser turrets. We find that if we calibrate them on heavy turrets, they have no problem adjusting to lighter, more responsive ones. Shall we look at the soldiers now?"
Krypten nodded as he followed Dathomar over to the firing range where 5 battle droids stood.
