Well, like alot of people, the new movie has once again awakened my interest in the Star Wars universe, although this time seems to be much more. I want to start reading the books, but have no idea where to begin, which books to read, etc. Are there different publishers? What is EU?
Lots of questions I know.....are there any books that I should start with?
Thanks!

EU= Expanded universe.
Great books are Labyrinth of evil, Shatterpoint, The golden age of the sith, The approaching storm, The clone wars comic books (not like regular comics though...thick pages and semi hardback covers with great artwork...)

Labyrinth of Evil was recommended to me (thanks Sever!!) but I haven't read it yet. I think it depends on what you are looking for. I prefer to read books about characters/story lines that I know so I tend to stick with the ones based on the movies' time period. I read Shadow Hunter which was pretty good and was a nice lead up to Ep. 1. I am now leaning toward Labyrinth of Evil and also the comic books that take place between ep2 and 3. For some reason I have become obsessed with Shaak Ti. So I have been looking for stuff about her. All I found was 1 comic book

Shaak Ti is in Labyrinth of evil a decent amount. LoE pretty much fills all the holes in the untold stories. Sipho-Dyas back story as well as GG history and creation and much more. GG attacking Coruscant to capture Palp is damn good! The whole book rocks imo.
I am almost finished with Shatterpoint, the Mace Windu clone war novel.

Unless you want to go in order,, going off the movies you would want to read, Han solo at Stars End, then the lando trilogy, then you have a new hope, empire...Shadows of the empire,, good book* jedi, truce at brakura courtship of priencess liea heir to the empire (thrawn trilogy* ect ect
