I just finished playing with Battlefront II on Xbox and I was thinking that if another war emerges between two important faction such as the Jedi and the Sith we could have a galactic conquest style war. We would be able to engage in both space and land battles frequently in it. The objectives would be to take over planets by conquering new ones, by protecting your current property, and by engaging in space battles with opposing fleets. We would travel to a number of different Star Wars planets, and in space battles, our objective could to take down the enemy fleets by disabling various parts of the main capital ships, such as the life-support module or the communication towers. As we would successfully defeat fleets and conquer planets, we would get significantly greater rewards. We would also need to build fleets that could cost a certain number of credits each and we will need to move it one step at a time. For exemple, if I want to attack Coruscant with my fleets, I would have to mass my forces near an nearby system in order to successfully invade the planet. I pretty much think that this could keep the RP fresh and excited and it could be the host of more interesting plots such as a group of Jedi Knights investigating the outlying system of a critical world in search for a enemy fleet.

Great idea... ;D
However the rewards would be more like rescorce bonuses. I think that would work nicely though.

It could also be turn based. For exemple, friday could be the Sith's turn to move their fleet, attack an enemy world or build an entire armada from scratch, while saturday could be the Jedi's turn.
