I believe that each side should not be able to purchase extreme amounts of items from the shops and pull the credits out of thin air in the name of the War Effort.
My suggestion is that each side should have a set number of credits, say 100k (add or take whatever) and then to increase it the participants would have to pledge their money to the fund, in the name of the Republic.
As well, the Galactic Emporer or the Dark Lord of the Sith could order any Sith or Jedi or Republic Followers to give a manditory amount of money, like 150 credits or something low like that.
