Biography:
Drake was born on Nar Shaddaa, in a dark and unwholesome district called Hell’s Highway. Much of his early life is hazy to him; the Jedi took him at the age of three and had not been inclined to disclose his life before that point. His mother Lilania was only 15 at his birth, and her lack of life experience and income forced her to seek desperate means to keep them alive. She was allowed to live in the house above the Love Palace if she worked there as an exotic dancer. The Love Palace was famed for its beautiful woman and it motto “You pay we display.” Life wasn’t great for the two, Lilania was not paid grandly, and Drake was left for hours on end to his own devices. Because of this he gained the ability to become independent, his social skills were not as great as could be expected but his initiative and forward thinking were overly exceptional for one so young.
His earliest clear memory was when he met his Grandad. Sabre Aralion was famed in Nar Shadda, for over 51 years he had been the law there, his son however had not followed in his noble footsteps. His son Marcus Aralion was a womanizer, his life was spent in the seedy dens of Nar Shaddaa and he had grown in bad company. Sabre had only learned of his sons rape and ditch policy over Nar Shadda 5 years after its beginning, and the minute he did he was forced to kill his son and try to find the victims, one of which was Lilania. He turned up in the Love Palace, looking like another customer, however after having words with Lilania he was soon apparent to be more. She took him up to meet Drake, announcing him as Grandpapa. Drake wasn’t sure what to make of him, by this time in Sabre’s life he was getting on in his 90’s, and his face was hard and cold.
Sabre was deeply grieved to find the poor conditions they lived in, and decided he was going to show them a better life. He planned to take them to Coruscant, however the Love Palace’s owner had other ideas, he wasn’t about to let go of his best dancer. Sabre wasn’t about to take shit from him, and slaughtered every bouncer and guard in the Palace before leaving with Drake and his Mum. The victory was short lived though, by the time they had entered Sabre’s speeder, they were already being chased by some of the Love Palace’s associate gangs. Sabre had a hard job outrunning them to his starship. When they got out of the speeder they were ambushed, Sabre gave Lilania the keys and prepared to fight the hordes of gang members alone. His last words were, “Go to Coruscant! The boy must be trained as a Jedi!” As the small ship took of Drake watched Sabre die from 7 blaster bolts.
Lilania had limited knowledge of a starship, with a little bit of work she managed to engage the autopilot, and before they knew it they were in hyperspace to Coruscant. The city planet was not lenient to let them in, she soon realized that only Drake would be allowed in, and that was if the Jedi accepted him. Jet-Wal Kindan was a senior Jedi Master at this point, and with great care he investigated the case. He had always respected Sabre’s judgement, so he allowed Drake into the Jedi order. Despite his best efforts however, the Coruscant Asylum Seeker department would not allow Lilania in, and she died several years later on Corellia.
Drake was initiated into the ancient Master Noren’s class, he was a fast learner, and his combat abilities rose greatly beyond his fellow students. His philosophical prowess however was not at the high standard expected. He was very reclusive and would shun diplomacy for what he saw as more practical methods. The masters were seriously discussing expelling him from the order, however Jet-Wal saw past this, and implored them to let him train Drake, he was certain he could turn him around. Eventually the council gave in, allowing Jet-Wal to be master over the young 10-year-old Drake.
At first Drake was expressively appreciative to Jet-Wal, however as time passed he took on the attitude that he deserved it. His abilities were making him arrogant, and Jet-Wal had to focus more on, one on one talk and meditation than anything else. After over 2 years spent on intense mental training, Jet-Wal took him out on their first mission. It was to investigate a chain of murders on Corellia. Drake and Jet-Wal found themselves trapped in the middle of a gang war, and despite their lack of allies and information they managed to get out alive, however none the wiser to the murderer. Many missions like this followed, with them came a strong bond between Jet-Wal and Drake. At the age of 18 Drake passed his trials, he had winged the mental side and wooed the Masters with a powerful display of multi-force tasking.
As a Jedi Knight he was much the same as he was a padawan, he followed Jet-Wal on missions and spent the rest of his time in private. On a mission to Nar Shaddaa, Jet-Wal was killed by the same gang Sabre was, of course Drake didn’t know it was the same one, however his revenge was just as swift anyway. He slaughtered the gang, completing the task he had been wanting to longer than he knew. After his master’s death, he was lost, he spent nearly all his time on distant worlds, honing his combat abilities and learning from ancient war masters. The Council rarely saw his presence and after a 2 year absence he was declared dead on his feet. One day he suddenly reappeared, returning a changed man, he never disclosed what had happened but whatever it was it had turned him into the quintessential Jedi.
At the age of 20 he was given the rank of Jedi Master, something he welcomed with open arms. He had seemingly fulfilled his destiny, but somehow, underneath, he wanted more…
