Prologue
The mud felt soft and cold against the recruit's tough Mandalorian skin. His chest was about to rip open it burned so bad. All he heard as he blacked out was the rain hitting his face, as it seemed to drown out everything else; the drill instructor, the other recruits grunts of labor, and the infernal sounds of blasters being fired. The loud shots and noises from the guns especially pissed him off, as the blasters shot incessantly....
The rain could still be heard as he awoke what seemed to be moments later in a hospital sector of the camp on Dxun, his homeworld. He had fainted the first week of training and was ashamed: his clan expected more, he expected more. Soon he was accompanied by a smallish medical droid.
"May I be of assistance, recruit?"
The Mandalorian smiled as he noticed the machine said 'recruit' rather than the protocol which was 'master'. Apparently his superiors thought it amusing that the newcomers were behind the droids in the ranking. As he thought this, the droid continued to beep waiting with its everlasting patients. He soon waved it off. The recruit sat up, but quickly leaned over: his ribs ached with pain. This was brutal, some didn't even survive, but those who did were given the reward above all other rewards: a chance to serve Mandalore as an honored Mandalorian soldier. As he thought of the conquests he'd make if and when he joined the ranks of the grand armada, he completely lost track of time and was abruptly interrupted by Captain Vax, a veteran of the Mandalorian Wars.
"Recruit, you have training to do, NOW!"
His voice quickly escalated to a yell, and before the patient knew it, he was out of the compound and deep in the mud yet again. He forced himself to raise his arms and trudge through the seemingly endless obstacle courses, tests of endurace, and battles. Finally he had been given the chance to show his respect and devotion for the Mandalorians. This was a once in a lifetime opportunity.
Captain Vax had lined the men up in a line the next day for inspection. He was to deem who was worthy for the assignment and who would be a soldier for the rest of their lives. He passed many, and so it seemed that this particular fighter had no chance, until the Captain stood face-to-face and looked into the recruits deep gray eyes. Finally, after what seemed to be hours passed, he motioned for him to go stand among the others.
Yes! I did it! I have brought honor to my clan!
As the recruit thought to himself Vax hollered orders. They were to be set up into groups, brought into the Dxun jungle and find their way out. An easy task for one who had been raised on the world and had done so so many times before. Saying he was cocky would be an understatment. The recruit entered the jungle with his team and was surrounded by what he deemed 'imbeciles'. They were from Mandalore, and didn't know a thing about the harsh terrain. The walked through the jungle complaing and whining, and it sounded more like kids then a Mandalorian patrol. He waved them off, telling them to shut up and continue on the journey. They needed to go through the right path or they may end up in a zakkeg's home or in a patrol of Republic soldiers. Yet they continued to make noise. They were like no hunters he had ever seen, constantly making noise until finally he heard something.
"Why are we out here...?," said the first voice.
"Orders," said the next. It seemed to be much more commanding than the others.
"No reason? Just because the 'Admiral' said so? What, is he a Jedi now?," said the first voice again, more whiney.
"Listen! If you don't shut up then the beasts out there will find us, and you won't even be able to whine anymore, GOT IT!?"
The hypocritical yell seemed to arouse the attention of the recruit's fellow Mandalorians, and they began talking amongst themselves, planning an attack. He told them quietly to stop, that their mission was to get back to camp, but they argued that if they brought in Republic carcasses that they would gain more honor. But still, some others argued against it. And eventually in their bickering, the Republic troopers heard them and fired on sight. He had no choice. He had to attack.
They had surrounded the group of Mandalorians easily. Their numbers where about four times as much as they first expected, and easily dwarfed their own patrol group. The frenzy began not a second later. The Republic pistols would have easily bounced off their armour, if it had been given. But due to Mandalorian tradition, it was needed to act out a mission of honor before granting them access to the armory, and therefore the bolts plundged themselves into their thick skin scarring and mutilating their bodies. Half of the recruits fell within the first five minutes, and the next half soon after. All that was left was the recruit and a smaller mandalorian. They took out there blasters simply on instinct and shot away, not bothering to aim. There where so many it didnt matter, they'd hit 'em anyaway. The had fought the group to a stand-still and finally his comrade turned and ran.
coward...
The rest of the surviving men shot him down within the next few seconds and turned to face the last one, who had stolen a few sonic grenades earlier, just in case they ran into any cannoks. As he threw the grenade, he dived away, covering his ears and waiting for the explosion. It was intense, many of the soldiers were knocked unconscious, in fact, all except for one. The leader. He seemed experienced, seemed to have fought Mandalorians before. Maybe he fought in the Mandalorian Wars.
Probably did. Looks like he has a grudge against my kind...
The man placed his hand on the recruits arms and fired a single shot to the head.
After what seemed to be hours the recruit had heard a small conversation between two of them, waking him up. He kept his eyes closed but listened intensely.
"What happened?," said one.
"Ambushed on a training mission.," said the other.
"Was he alone?," the other responed
"No. He was with more recruits."
"How are they?"
"Gone...," Said the second bluntly.
"And who is this one?"
After minutes of rustling through papers, he finally replied "Hoorex Kwando, member of clan Kwando"
Hoorex heard the words 'gone', and the reaction from the other. He didn't even seem phased. Then the began to speak again.
"So what happened to him?," said the first voice again.
"Head wounds. And he seems to have gone into shock."
"How'd he survive?"
"Another patrol found him at the mercy of a soldier, and they surprised the two of 'em, killed the soldier. The soldier apparently shot him before, but it wasn't a fatal wound."
"Can he still fight?"
"No...He is lucky to be alive..."
At those words something was triggered within Hoorex's mind. He began to convulse, shaking uncontrollably. The doctors tried to calm him and restrain him, but to no avail. And when he stopped, he sat up, and said in a metalic voice.
"[ERROR!] RAGE MODE INITIATED! [ERROR!]"
Bio: Hoorex was a Mandalorian warrior from birth, living only to honor on the battlefield. He was a valued soldier, until, during a battle, flying shrapnel lodged into his forehead. he was knocked into a coma, and when he awoke, he could barely remember any of the accident. He was diagnosed to be schizophrenic by the Mandalorian medics, unfit for work. But when they angered oneof his personalities, a droid calling himself K4-K3, he killed them all in a fit of rage. He was deemed still able to fight, so he works for the Mandalorians now, trying to regain honor until one of his personalities takes over. But when hoorex had gone thru the ranks...finally he was given commandership... he had done he thought impossible...but durring a training session with punk troops he had taken major damge to the head and lost his other personalities...
hoorex had becom a devoted solider and lead the mandalorians to many victories...but once during his private training he had been struck down by lord Invidus! he recieved a mark on his chest and strange powers...
But again he was healed by his best friend duncan...and was welcomed back to the mandalorians and even promoted to general...But that was not enough. he seeked training and weapon of much power so he went to Rhen Varr to find ranka, the nemvahh leader...
