My friend sent me this from a MSN Group, don't know if it's already been discussed, and it may not even be true (I for one, think a lot of it is fake).... but in any case, enjoy!
Things that were changed in Episode three:
Thats right, you don't need to wait for the DVD release and see the special features or deleted scenes, because I have them here now!
Get ready for a taste of awesomeness:
1. In the opening scene with the jedi starfighters trying to get to Gen. Grievous' ship, the musical score was meant to be "Highway to hell". When Obi-wan leaps out of the ship, instead of slicing the nearby droids, he was originally supposed to land and be surrounded by battle droids who say "step away from yo busted-ass starfighter and put your hands on your head."
Obi-wan is then meant to go "you mean, put my hands - on my head.. like this?" he then puts his hands on his head as he unleashes a force push that creams the droids, as Anakin finishes checking his hair in the rearview mirror and gets out, as if nothing's happened.
They changed the entry because no matter how hard they tried, they couldn't get a force push without one's hand extended, to work without looking like the jedi just farted, thats why all other force pushes have the jedi using their hand to focus the push.
Why they changed the musical score.. we may never know.
2. When Anakin decapitates Dooku, instead of that eerie, static echo, they were going to have a sound effect that sounded like the word "Fatality" and Palpatine was supposed to say prior to this "Finish him!"
3. The scene where Anakin was told he could be on the council, but not be made a master, had to be re-shot no less than 27 times, as one of the council members was played by a former Naboo RPer, who erupted in uncontrolled laughter when Anakin started whining about how he wasn't going to be made a master.
No one could seem to understand why this was funny.
They overcame this problem by giving the actor an alien's face that involved a prosthetic that sealed their mouth shut. In post production, they had to tweak the musical score to hide the hints of stiffled snickering coming from the Naboo RPer, who later explained how they used to see this thing on a weekly basis.
4. The scene where Padme and Anakin share the "I'm so in love with you" exchange of dialogue etc, was originally meant to have the music from "Dawson's Creek," but they had to stop Katie Holmes from running onto the set and jumping up and down saying "my song! my song!" so they changed it and asked the producers of "Batman Begins," to write up a character for her alone, just to keep Katie away from the Star Wars set. (The character played by Katie Holmes in the upcoming movie of Batman Begins, never appeared in the comics. It is said that George Lucas had to come up with the idea for her, just to get rid of her).
5. "Darth Plagueis the wise," was originally going to be called "Darth Sage the wise".
6. The Twi'lek seen for a brief moment, was actually going to be orange, but on the day of shooting the scene, they ha run out of the make up, so they just decided to let her be human-toned in colour and later made backstory in the Visual Dictionary, saying that she was artificially coloured. Double sided tape was used to keep the front of her outfit on.
7. When Obi-wan gets onto the lizard creature and takes off to find Grievous, the musical score was going to be "Born to be wild," they planned to have this play in the ensuing chase afterwards. But a lost bet with the makeup artists, forced them to agree to change it.
8. The fight between Obi-wan and Grievous was going to have the sound track "We will rock you," but again, the music team made the mistake of going double or nothing.
9. When Obi-wan shoots Grievous, he was originally going to shoot him three times and add in a quip as he had been doing throughout the movie (stuff like "Sith Lords are our speciality" etc):
Shot one: "Whats wrong Grievous? Got a little case of heartburn there?"
Shot two: "Is that flame coming out of your face or are you just a little "hot" for me?"
Shot three: once Grievous is down for the count, Obi-wan climbs up and tosses the blaster away saying "Now thats what I call 'Grievous Bodily Harm'."
10. After Palpatine kills Agen Kolar, Saesee Tiin and Kit Fisto - Mace Windu was supposed to say "You sure know how to bust a move for an old guy."
When Mace Windu appears to have Palpatine cornered, the original line was "Freeze mother <delete expletive>, you are under arrest, my lord."
11. When Mace Windu has his arm cut off, Samuel L Jackson later asked George Lucas what his obsession with cutting of arms was about - he said it was a metaphor that relates to his childhood when he was reprimanded against "gratification" and was told of the bible verse: "if your hand causes you to sin, cut it off"
12. Yoda was meant to do a Kung-fu pose after killing the two troopers who tried to kill him.
13. After Padme passes out from being force-choked, Obi-wan was originally meant to caress her hair after checking her pulse, just to add to the idea of a veiled love triangle in Anakin's mind.
14. When Obi-wan leaves Anakin after cutting off his arm and legs, the spirits of Dooku and Darth Maul are supposed to appear as red spirits and taunt Anakin -
Dooku : "Whatever made you think you could replace either of us? You only ever made it this far on the backs of others. Yoda saved you from an early death, Obi-wan's training gave you skill over me. Our master's support made you a vaunted council jedi. But in the end, all you are is someone waiting to be saved, be it by Qui-gonn, Obi-wan or Darth Sidious. Even now, he comes to save you. You may have succeeded us, but you'll never have the pride in saying you made it by yourself."
Darth Maul : "And Padme only ever felt sorry for you. She ALWAYS had a crush on Obi-wan, but another caught his eye. You pathetic, crawling, barbequed child. Every time she was with you, Padme's mind would think of Obi-wan."
Dooku : "Looks like our master backed a loser."
Darth Maul : "Who ordered the roast jedi?"
Dooku : in his best Palpatine voice "Henceforth, you shall be known as.. Darth.. Stumpy!"
Darth Maul : "Chosen one my ass."
At that point, Anakin was meant to howl against them both as Palpatine arrives.
In case you're wondering who the other who "caught his eye" was, that was Siri. A Jedi who died saving Padme and was Obi-wan's friend when they were both padawans. In the Visual Dictionary, it is said that they actually shared a secret relationship.
More can be found about Siri in the "Jedi Apprentice" book series.
