Nor-Lek Kordin
Nor-Lek Kordin is a leading member of the Jedi Council and respected citizen of the Republic. His connection with the force and wisdom with the Jedi code has lead him through trials and tribulations far beyond the expertise of most Jedi, from the youngest padawan to the oldest master. He is aged 34 standard years old, and many have commented on his wisdom is beyond his age. He’s 100 lbs, and 1.6 meters tall. He has green eyes, tanned skin and is of human origins.
Nor-Lek is not one to rush into combat however he is not naive when it come to the galaxy, he knows that combat is often needed, however he follows closely to Odan-Urr’s teachings, and realizes that when he draws his lightsaber he need to be ready to take a life. In truth he bases much of his life around the teachings of Odan-Urr, in the past he has observed his quotes with the utmost scrutiny, and taken it in carefully.
His life as a Jedi began before his first birthday, he does not know what planet he came form, nor cared to ask more than a single time. As a Jedi he has a thirst for knowledge, however pursuing knowledge withheld by piers could verge upon passion, something he has sworn against. Through his younger years he was brought up by the Jedi carers, a group of force sensitive men and women who care for the youngest Jedi when they are not yet old enough to begin training. The Jedi carers were a positive influence upon Nor-Lek, teaching him the way to behave, and right from wrong. It is at this young age that humans are most impressionable, and Jedi should know deep within them how a Jedi behaves. The main reason older beings are rejected from the Jedi are that they’ve been brought up to know emotion deep inside. Once Nor-Lek had reached the appropriate age, he was inducted into Jedi Master Noren’s youngling class. Under the guidance of the ancient Jedi Master, Nor-Lek and his fellow pupils learnt the basics of lightsaber training, force channelling and Jedi Lore. These young years passed fast for Nor-Lek, perhaps to fast for his comfort. He would never reminisce about them, he was focused on the present, never the past. Noren observed frustration in Nor-Lek, uncertain of where it sprouted from he worked extremely hard to calm it in the promising student. This extra attention to Nor-Lek sprouted bitterness in some of his fellow students, a bitterness that grew into anger. After several years of this growing anger a youngling named Jeshus Tarn, he attacked Nor-Lek before the padawan trials. Nor-Lek was at a disadvantage, Jeshus had stolen a lightsaber and Nor-Lek was not of the age to have his own. With sheer wit and tranquillity alone, Nor-Lek managed to calm Jeshum, and after lulling him into a sense of security, snatched the lightsaber out of his hands and swiftly brought it before the council. After hearing of this situation, the council had no choice but to expel Jeshum on the grounds of disregard for the rules and disrespect for his piers. Nor-Lek on the other hand was considered to have shown he was worthy of padawanship, and was honoured to be mastered by Si-Shen Jusk, a seasoned and wise Bothan knight.
The beginning of Nor-Lek’s Padawan training was mostly spent in training rooms, Si-Shen felt that he needed to be ready for the galaxy before he was set free into it. This training consisted if intensive defence combat, complex Jedi Lore and culture studies. Nor-Lek excelled, or so he was told, and at the age of 12 he was taken off of Coruscant for the first time in 12 years. He was taken to Yavin, it was a merely a relic study, more a field trip than a mission. Si-Shen said that some of the temples on Yavin were beautiful, and the wildlife was exotic. Nor-Lek was not disappointed, he had never seen forests before, let alone such lush and emerald ones. The Field trip was to become more dangerous than anticipated though. Nor-Lek and Si-Shen stumbled across a small pirate outpost, they were surrounded and taken hostage. Si-Shen refused for him and his apprentice to become objects to be bartered with, so at the first opportunity, he led the escape through the forest. Only just making it to their small ship, they left the planet by the skin of their teeth. This encounter taught Nor-Lek a valuable lesson, that lesson was that he needed to know when to step down. Si-Shen could have easily decided to fight the pirates, risking death, however he waited for the force to give him a better opportunity. Nor-Lek and Si-Shen’s partnership led them through many situations like this, each time Nor-Lek grew wiser and more powerful; he had an uncanny knack for learning from the past while focusing on the present. His training took him to the age of 20, he had learnt much, thriving on the defensive natures of combat and the insightful natures of the force. He passed his trials easily, expressing great wisdom and understanding of the galaxy he lived in.
His time as a knight was not as long lived as some, he was a powerful tool of the council, and whatever he touched turned somewhat to gold. He defused volatile situations, infiltrated enemy bases, investigated crimes and ultimately showed himself to be of great worth. He even trained a padawan, Nerl Sen. Some of his more finer accomplishments came after he was honoured the rank of Master. He had been sent to a pirate slave ship heading for Tatooine, his mandate was to rescue a disguised Jedi Knight, however he soon learned that the ship was filled with innocents. He took initiative and single-handedly neutralized all the enemies, freeing the cargo and taking them back to Coruscant where they were each safely sent back home. It was not long after this he was allowed on the council, and he could finally show how exceptional he truly was.
During a meeting between Nor-Lek and his fellow council members gave guidance to a young Jedi Knight with an incurable disease. Despite their counsel he left the order through fear he would damage them. The Council decided that this boy’s future could be dangerous one, and Boreguard Jr. was sent to keep an eye on him.
After encountering a Danthiri on Coruscant, Nor-Lek used his holoprojector to seek guidance and direction from the council. He was concerned by the suspicious behaviour of the Danthiri and was advised to go after the Danthiri and bring him before the council for questioning.
