Solo has a past of heroics and can easily be led into a situation for heroics. He can sometimes be quick to anger though which makes him a very complicated person to know.

Personality: Solo is torn between almost what you would call split personalities. Some times he can be a cold and malicious killer but on the other hand he sometimes helps those in need.
Concerning Shane's heritage:
Well, Solo is Shane Qel-Droma but not Vo's son that he had in the old RP. The story goes that Vo had anoter child when he was a Jedi Knight and still young, the pregnency was accidental and it was with a young Nubian senator, Sera Narcasa.
So on, Jackiel Narcasa was born and stayed with his mother on Naboo. He never knew his father until Jack was in his manhood and had a preagnant wife. one day a man named Shane Qel-Droma (Vo's known son) showed up and defended Jack and his wife from an attack of bandits. Shane died, sensing that Jack and him were of the same bloodline Shane told Jack of his true Heritage (while infusing his words with the force for some added truth). While they escaped Jack's wife, Lorre, went into labor. They found a hut and the inhabitants had some medical profession. They delivered the baby and Jack named the child Shane in honor of the man who had just died, unknowingly allowing the child to be born.
Jack and Lorre decided it was best for the child to grow away from the Jedi knowing the fate of his Jack's father (Vo) and Shane (uncle) who was trained by a Jedi hermit. They gave the child to Jack's step-brother, now living on Tatooine, so Shane (Solo) was now growing up as a farm boy and Solo's profile takes you on from there.
History:
Solo was born into a Nubian family which had some senatorial background. All he remembers of them was when they brought him to his Uncle Ben's and never picked him up. He was adopted by the poor Tatooine moisture farmer. Growing up he learned the galaxy as a hard place to live and that making connections only caused pain. When Solo was 12 his foster father was killed in a Tusken Raider raid and in fury picked up his foster father's rifle and murdered all of the Tuskens by hand and those he left alive he tor.
When he returned home he sat there for days not coming out and exploring the cellar which was off limits to him as a child. What he found there was a shock. He was the grandson of Vo Qel-Droma a Jedi Knight during the times of the Great War. Enclosed in a case he found Vo's twin double-bladed sabers, prosthetic arm and activation codes to a ship that had been in there garge for ages.
Shane knew there was only one course of action to take, he went to the ship that he had though to be wrecked and beyond repair and activated it and headed onto what he thought was going to be a great adventure.
He headed to Nar Shaada to start a life as a mercenary, seeing as he was to old to start Jedi training. Beginning he could find no work because of his age and relied on thievery and hacking into computer systems for cash. As he grew older he got involved in spice smuggling and chopshop mechanics. Unknown to him he was living the life that his grandfather had.
When he was 18 and was taken seriously by most of the Nar Shaada thugs he began his work. His weapons of choice were his twin revolvers he had gotten ina barge raid. He undertook many missions in the span between ages of 19 and 28 and gained a lot of respect (and credits).
Shane decided to take a bigger role than a famous Nar Shaada outlaw and he remembered that his line in the Qel-Droma family tree had some Mandalorian in them and quickly went to join ranks with his brethern.
