I love Eric/Magneto. He's bad but not too bad...hehe. Characters that are more human and have pasts make them much more intriguing.
It's almost like Martin Luther King, Jr. and Malcolm X. Both were fighting for the same thing, but had different ideals and extreme beliefs in how to go about getting there. This is a very big over simplification, but think about it...lol.

I honestly doubt more than half the people that voted know who the other people are.

That’s a hard question, as a singular foe I might say Apocalypse, his character has always intrigued me, however for a villain I need more than just intrigue. If I may expand it further than singular foe’s then I will add Phalanx and the Brood into the mix. Those two just freaked me the hell out, it’s the feeling of being able to take over someone’s body etc. that used to scare me. Thinking about it I level them equal, but I’m going for the brood. I can remember reading the brood X-Men comic back in the 80’s, and having the fuck scared out of me. Wolverine got turned into one of them, so did Storm, very scary, very cool.
