Hes right. They do offer Trial versions. I ganked my Microsoft Office Professional version from my roommate. He was out at class and I got the discs from his drawer. I saved myself about $400 by doing that. (Even though he got it for like $130 because he ordered it through some student thing where he got a killer discount.)Student discoutns are offered basically thoughout the entire Schooling system to my knowlege, the only downside is that you are not allowed to make money with them.
If anything, you could go to your parents and say "I need MIcrosoft >Insert here<, can I have >Insert cash needed here<?"
I'm sure they will understand if you say its for school... Hehe...
