Hey, I'm just wondering, is there a reason why in the prequels, you give all the bad-*** characters little or no screen time? Darth Maul was totally evil and had a whole history behind him yet the guy had like 3 lines.

Meanwhile Jar Jar Binks, despite getting a lot of fan mail from really stupid 6 year olds, is in half the scenes in the entire movie and has no relevance or significance. (SuperShadow: Lucas says that if you spend too much time on the villains then they lose their mysteriousness. Maul would not be so cool if he had tons of time in The Phantom Menace. Lucas says that Jar Jar is perhaps the most important character found in the prequel trilogy.)

I never saw the point of him myself, he trivialised the whole film... ok so he linked the jedi in with the gungans to fight on naboo etc etc but he could have been killed in the battle or something and saved us all the trouble...

In a way he is a saviour to the PT... and the destroyer of the OT (so to speak)

He found the gungans and took them to war...this stopped the federation from taking Naboo fully.

Jar Jar did ask the Senate to give the emergancy powers to the Supreme Chancellor... so he basically kills everyone and is responsible for the Empire and the Clone army.
