"Adventure and excitement is not why you're here, Ussej. There is no adventure and excitement on Kal'Shabbol. You would have to head further out into the Ashlan Expanse to do that. But, adventure and excitement is not something to be craved. Many have fallen because they have wanted adventure and excitement. They have been lured by the shadow of the Bogan. Many have even joined the Sith. You wouldn't want to join the Sith, now would you?"

*Ussej Sighed. Why did Dads always have a way of finding the bad in anything good?*
"No, Pop..."

"Yes, son...there are...."
*He gets up and stares out the window. He stares to the mountains and sees the statue of his grandfather, Ussej Bac. He thought of the story of his grandfather and knew that it was time to tell his own son about it, just as he had just told Kravin.*
"Son, long ago I had told you a story of your great-grandfather. I had told you that he was born and raised on Kal'Shabbol and that he died saving the ones he loved. That, I am afraid, is only half accurate. What I am about to tell you requires great maturity and it will require a greater understanding of things outside of our small corner of the galaxy, specifically the Jedi and Sith. Can I trust you to take this story seriously?"

"Ussej Padric Bac was born on Alderaan twenty-five years before the rise of the Sith Empire. His parents, Padric and Talia Bac, were informed by the Jedi Order that their three month old son could become a Jedi Knight. Because they were poor, Ussej’s parents sent him away so he could find a better life with the Jedi Order.
During his early years with the Order, the young Ussej Bac displayed a great deal of Force potential that was noticed by the Jedi Council. For awhile, they believed him to be the “Chosen One” spoken of in an ancient Jedi Prophecy stating that a chosen one will be born and bring balance to the Force. But, it was revealed that Padawan Ussej could not be the “Chosen One” because in order to have been he would have to be born to a virgin mother. Ussej Bac had a father.
When now Jedi Knight Ussej was twenty-four, he met a woman named Laili Rendar on Coruscant. She was the sister of Kit Rendar, the man now known as Darth Ravinos: Apprentice to the Dark Lordess Viea. He helped her escape many perilous situations and, during a training session, the two revealed their love for each other and became engaged to be married.
Despite many arguments, they were able to pull through. But, that all changed when Ussej was called to Kashyyyk by Grand Master Damien Nightblade. Damien knew of the relationship between Ussej and Laili and urged him to be careful. Ussej now believed that Damien was trying to steal Laili away from him.
When Ussej returned to Onderon, he and Laili had a huge fight which resulted in Ussej leaving. The next day, Laili went on a mission and was rescued by her bounty hunter friend Mathias.
While she was gone, Ussej became an advisor to Queen Arael of Onderon. She advised him to apologize to Laili and show her that he truly loved her. Arael believed that a love as strong as his and Laili’s could not be torn about by a mere fight.
When Laili returned, Ussej stood at the starport waiting for her. He saw her cuddled in the arms of Mathias. But, what was really an act of courtesy on Mathias’ part (since Laili was injured and partially sedated) Ussej took as an act of adultery. Laili followed him and collapsed in pain. She was laying in Ussej’s arms, almost dying. He rushed her to the doctors and she was placed in their care.
At this doctors office, Damien bestowed the rank of Jedi Master onto Ussej. Ussej accepted it, though he did feel that it was a strange time to be given such an honor. The doctor revealed to Ussej that Laili was pregnant. Ussej was shocked. When Laili awoke, Ussej told her the good news and she was estatic. But, Ussej could not help but wonder if the child was really his.
When Laili and Ussej arrive back at their apartment, they begin to talk about the future. Soon, Ussej begins to tell her that even if the Republic becomes the central Galactic Government again it will not last forever, and neither will the Jedi Order. He told her that it will probably happen far in the future. Then, he fell to the floor and had this vision:
A man stands inside an office of Coruscant, his lightsaber pointed at another man lying on the floor. Another man, far younger than the other two, comes to save the old man. The man with the lightsaber falls to his death. The young man kneels before the older man, who passes his hand over him. Nothing can be heard except for the words...the Sith will rule the galaxy...The young man leaves as the old man smiles wickedly.
The young man marches through the streets of what appears to be Coruscant, with a legion of soldiers at his side. He enters into what appears to be the Jedi Temple and unleashes a path of chaos and destruction. No one, not even the youngest children, survive.
The older man stands before the Senate. They cheer him, but some stand in before him in anguish. The older man raises his hands before them, seemingly bringing an end to peace.
The young man fights another man on a terrible world filled with death and destruction. They quickly move throughout the area before the other man, obviously a Jedi Knight, appears to kill the other man.
Within the halls of the Senate, a small creature fights the old man, who is now obviously a Dark Force user. They fight for many moments before the small creature appears to fall to his death within the Glactic Rotunda.
The young Jedi who appeared to kill the young man on the desolate world is with a woman who is dying. She gives birth to a child and screams out in terror. Ussej does not see the face of this woman though. She speaks to the Jedi before dying.
The Jedi brings the small infant into the arms of a young couple on a desolate world in the Outer Rim before disappearing into the binary sunset.
A suited man stands next to the old man on the bridge of a ship, ready to bring destruction to the galaxy.
He passed out into a cold sweat and almost went into shock. Then, he awakes and runs outside and throws up in the streets. He falls against the door to the apartment, wondering if he is on the right side of the fight.
Ussej tells Laili that he has to speak with Damien Nightblade on Kashyyyk. He brings Laili with her and drops her off on a remote planet far away from the Jedi.
But, Ussej never went to Kashyyyk....he went to Korriban to confront Darth Ravinos. After a heated exchange of words, Ussej knows that he has to find out the truth about Laili and Mathias while saving her at the same time. He kneels down before the Apprentice to the Dark Lordess Viea, who bestows upon him the name "Darth Mantus".
He traveled to find Laili and he and Ravinos attempted to turn her to the Dark Side...they were successful. After throwing family values at her, she turned and went with them.
A few weeks later, she was confronted by Former Grand Admiral Invidius. In an attempt to anger Darth Mantus and Darth Ravinos, Invidius tried to kill Laili and her unborn child. Mantus came in and saved her, but she had lost a lot of blood and suffered heavy premature contractions. They landed on Telos where she recieved medical attention.
He trained heavily with Darth Ravinos in the following months until he got a call from Telos saying that Laili was in the medical center. He rushed back to find her in labor. After calming her down, he managed to get her to finally lay down and listen to the doctors. After a painful labor and an even more painful delivery, Laili gave birth to Mantus' son, whom they named Ussej Padric Bac II...my father.
A year passed until the day that the Macabre Alliance attacked Korriban itself. Ussej and Kit had faced the two Sith Lords in an attempt to prevent them from crowing themselves the Dark Lord and Dark Lord’s Apprentice respectively. Ussej had already turned from the Dark Side while fighting Invidius on Korriban. He had managed to turn Kit away from the darkness and convince him to help. But, the two were overwhelmed and forced to flee. They knew that if they were to continue their family names they would have to go as far away as they could.
Many years after Apocalus and Invidius had taken the throne, the group of escapees was picked up by a ship in the Unknown Regions. Fearing for their lives, the group got into an attack stance. But, the unknown people were not attackers: they were rescuers. The people, introducing themselves as the Bendu Knights of the Ashla, revealed that they were on an exploration mission in the Skywalker Nebula which was where they all were at the time. They explained who they were and the philosophies of their Order. The group was stunned to hear that they were once part of the Jedi Order.
They were taken back to Kal’Shabbol. Laili received training and sat on the Council of Priests, but decided to resign after a few years. She and Ussej had another child, a girl named Talia, but the child died of a leukemia-like disease just after her eight birthday.
Ussej and Kit were made Priests after a few years and Ussej II became a Knight. Ussej and Kit eventually became High Priests and sat at the head of the Council of Priests. There came a time when a strange race threatened to destroy the Bendu, so Ussej took it upon himself to sacrifice himself for the good of his family and the Bendu. Laili, Kit and Ussej II were devastated, but came to terms with the death of their hero. Ussej was elected a Bendu Saint, an honor that went posthumously to only the greatest of all Bendu.
There are still many who believe that Ussej Padric Bac did not die that day. They believe that he now dwells within the light of the Ashlan Nebula with the Whills on Ashlan Four. The believers say that he is now telling the story of the Great War so that the Whills can record it within the Journal of the Whills. Some believe that Ussej Padric Bac will show himself again someday. One wise man prophesied that he shall return with The Skywalker when the Chosen One brings balance to the Force. The Bendu has dismissed this as just wishful thinking, but some...including the Bac Family, speciffically me...believe that the prophesier could in fact be right...."

*Ussej sat there, on the ground, infront of his father, listening intently. It seemed that his Great-Grandfather had had a traumatic life. However, he could dwell on that later. Now, he wanted a simple question answered*
"Dad, how come you never told me this before?"

"It wasn't necessary until now. I felt that I should tell you at the right moment, and I believe that this was it. Your great-grandfather wanted more than what was right in front of him and look what it got him: he became a Sith Lord. Is that what you want? To pledge yourself to the darkness? I do not believe so."
