Letting people advertise on this site could detract from our memberbase. It's not a good idea for any site to allow people to advertise other sites. I really disagree, nearly every site that knows how too, affiliates. It's a both way benefit arrangement, I'll link your site if you link mine. I'll tell you why it works, say you affiliate with a Harry Potter Roleplay, people there might like Star wars and so join this site. |

Yeah, I've seen some forums where they had a section just for advertisements...doesn't turn out too well. You go in thinking 'Hmm, these are nice people, maybe they want to check out my site.' Wrong! You post a link to the site, they post back stuff like 'Fag site.' 'The skin sucks!' That kind of crap. Then there are those who register and spam the hell out of the place just for fun.

Oh really? support.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=opinionsThat is the support forum, the main probards site. And that board is a place called Get Opinions About Your Board, if you look it is well modded and a great place to get opinions about your site and get it advertized. |

That's how it works in a perfect world, Sabre. However, this is an imperfect world so there are bound to be consequences. What does imperfect world have too do with it, I'm gonna go look for one of the most successful sites on proboards and prove that affiliating is a good thing. EDIT: mrsnesbit.proboards20.com/ it's a disney board, look at the affiliate box at the bottom then look at the members. |

I agree with sabre..it does work I have seen it on other forums and it doesn't lose members...people can be on more than one forum.

Yeah, it doesn't take a genius to have more than one window open, and besides this is the biggest SW roleplay on the net, I don't think we need to be too worried about competition.
