This will always stand as a point of contention. What DOES[/b] Canon mean for us on this board that utilize things from the movies, the books, the RPGs, the CRPGs and our own imaginations? While I do support any creative exercise I don't want to see the Enterprise banking around Death Star as it chugs into position to fire on Babylon-five with the Battlestar Galactica coming over the horizon of the station to defend it with a swarm of Death gliders and Ga'uld pyramid ships in pursuit. While yes it would be a heliciously cool event in my eyes I know the die-hard Star Wars fans would be spasming in apoplexy and it would ulimately send the wrong signal to new players. This is a Star Wars site first foremost and always and should remain thus HOWEVER to deny something because it isn't 'Canon' to the Movies would be as wrong as allowing anyone to play a Canon character. As long as SOME part of the Star Wars universe authorizes it then it's fine with me. Again as always these are my personal opinions and are not meant in anyway to offend or insult. I return you to your regularly scheduled thread.[/quote] good point...

I never said it should not be used. I am just stating a point that the word "cannon" should not be used like that.

It's a peice of artillery that was used to fire either; a. Explosive Balls b. Solid balls that rolled through enemy ranks, killing or wounding enemy soldiers c. Explosive Shells that fragment into tiny musket Balls as soon as they exit the barrel(Like a very large, very old shotgun.)

Cannon means correct, as in the films are cannon but pieces of the EU are not because they do not represent Lucas' vision.

I never said it should not be used. I am just stating a point that the word "cannon" should not be used like that. I never intended to imply that you said it couldn't or shouldn't be used. I only added my opinion on the use of anything referred to as canonical on the board. There are many things that are indeed authorized and bearing the Star Wars Logo that I would fight tooth and nail against adding to the board for many reasons, The Death Star for example though authorized and purely canonical by anyone's view should not be used on the board, it doesn't fit in the time frame used here. We have always hesitated in the view of Droids that while some are authorized (Bearing the logo) and some are both (Canonical and authorized) such as astromechs, Protocol Droids and what have you that also do not fit due to time frame constraints but are semi allowed because we have no idea the full scope of droids that were avalible. I believe that common sense and discussion by the Mods and Admins with final 'yea or nay' being always in the hands of Jetzt are what should hold sway first and foremost. Just because something is Canon does not necessarily guarentee it will fit here. And now our educational portion of the post! ;D Canon (And it is with only two n's not three as in Cannon) 1) a rule or especially body of rules or principles generally established as valid and fundamental in a field or art or philosophy; "the neoclassical canon"; "canons of polite society" 2) In the context of fiction, the canon of a fictional universe comprises those novels, stories, films, etc. that are considered to be genuine, and those events, characters, settings, etc. that are considered to have inarguable existence within the fictional universe. Usually items that are considered canon come from the original source of the fictional universe while non-canon material comes from adaptations or unofficial items. As always these (Save the educational portion) are just my opinions and are in no way intended to offend or insult.

I dont know why this particular thread was pined, however I do know that wraith's are indeed pure cannon. For instance, marka ragnos's spirit possesd tavion much like the wraith's toke control of thease sith on the forum. I dont know if someone thought other wise, but I figured I would just bring this out.
