I think that there are too many polls titled 'What do you think of my thread?' or 'What do you think of my character?' I know I have done this, but I won't do it again. I think those kinds of threads should NOT be allowed here, because they are kind of annoying, at least in my eyes.

Why are they annoying? The thread creator wants to know people's opinions. Is there anything wrong with that?
I think not...

I just think that if people want to really know what people think, then why not PM them or something? Good polls are like stuff in general, not what people think of you.

Yeah, lets ask our best friend who'd tell us a lie just to make us feel better if they like "John Doe"! Polls are for the entire Forum to vote on, Barrill...Would YOU want to PM the Entire Forum, asking their opinion?

Honest feedback is a necessary part of any form of writing. A poll is as easy a way of getting this from the user base as any. Personally I'd much rather it be in a poll then in mass PMs. Polls that don't interest me I can read and thereafter ignore where as mass PMs remind me way too much of mass emails which there's always at least one yutz more often then not more then one that hits 'reply all' and boom I get to read it over and over and over filling up my Inbox.

Totally agree with 'Chelle there
I do admit that polls that are obviously " Am I the collest ever or what?" that are purely obvious attemps to fule a lagging ego, with little reason to...DO get alittle annoying..
Now if its a poll asking an opinion thats differant Asking how a thread looked is a great way to develope skills too, Now, I don't agree with it, but I'm told Im one of the best players here..Well, Again I don't think so, but I know that I use feed back to help, hell, Ask Lirr how scatterbrained I use to be.
Now we have been good with polls lately, a few show up now and then that are sorta pointles or overly silly, but Ignore them *G
